About NSLHA
The Nebraska Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSLHA) is a state trade association ald leading organization in Nebraska representing speech-language pathologists, audiologists and students. Audiologists specialize in preventing and assessing hearing and balance disorders as well as providing audiologic treatment, including hearing aids. Speech-language pathologists identify, assess, and treat speech and language problems, including swallowing disorders.
Speech disorders occur when a person is unable to produce speech sounds correctly or fluently or has problems with their voice. Language disorders occur when a person has trouble understanding others (receptive language) or sharing thoughts, ideas and feelings completely (expressive language). Speech-language pathologists identify, assess, and treat speech and language problems. Hearing loss is determined by three categories: type of hearing loss; degree of hearing loss; configuration of hearing loss. Audiologists specialize in preventing and assessing hearing and balance disorders, as well as providing audiologic treatment.
